Privacy Policy

This website
- We set no cookies, run no analytics, and show no ads. We don't collect personal information through this site.
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve and protect the site, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Videos use a click-to-load player. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; then the player loads from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and Google's Privacy Policy applies to it.
Our YouTube publishing tool and YouTube API Services
We run a private tool, used only by us, to publish and manage our own YouTube channels. It uses YouTube API Services. Because it does, the Google Privacy Policy also applies to the data it handles, alongside this policy.
What it accesses and stores
- The OAuth tokens that let it act for our own channels.
- Our own videos' metadata (IDs, titles, descriptions, schedules), caption tracks and statistics.
- Public comments that viewers leave on our videos: the comment text, the commenter's display name and channel ID, and the thread they belong to, plus the replies we draft.
How it uses that data
- Uploading our videos and keeping their metadata and captions correct.
- Reviewing viewer comments and posting replies that we have approved word for word.
- Measuring how our own videos perform.
Who it is shared with
- To draft a reply, comment text, the commenter's display name and the thread context are sent to our private Telegram chat (Telegram Messenger) and to an AI model provider, which suggests reply wording. Nothing is posted until we approve the exact text.
- Nothing else is shared. We never sell this data, never use it for advertising, and give it to no one else.
Cookies, devices and ads
The tool runs on our own computer. It does not place cookies or collect information from viewers' devices, and it shows no third-party ads or content.
How long we keep it
- Viewer comment text, display names and channel IDs are deleted (or refreshed from YouTube) within 30 days once a comment is dealt with. After that we keep only the comment's ID, its status and the ID of our reply. Comment review messages are deleted 30 days after they're sent.
- Statistics about our own videos are kept for up to 36 months where YouTube's terms allow it, and otherwise refreshed or deleted within 30 days.
- OAuth tokens are kept until access is revoked.
Revoking access and deleting data
Access can be revoked at any time through the Google security settings page, https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. We delete the stored data for a channel within 7 days of revocation, or within 7 days of a deletion request.
If you commented on one of our videos and want your comment data deleted from our records, email podcast@gutenbergvault.com with the video and your channel name. We delete it within 7 days. This doesn't remove the comment from YouTube; you can do that on YouTube.
Changes and contact
We'll update this page if any of this changes, and the date at the top will change with it. Questions or requests: podcast@gutenbergvault.com.
